Back home with family

The last time I was in Kijabe Hospital, I had the honor of taking care of a young man who had unfortunately developed Guillain-Barre syndrome after a short gastrointestinal illness. His symptoms developed quickly, causing profound weakness and respiratory insufficiency over several days. When I first met the young man, he was having breathing difficulties and could not lift his head off his pillow. He was quickly intubated and we were able to provide a course of IVIG treatment. His response to therapy was AMAZING and was able to be extubated within about 1 week. He is now back at home and just recently got a great new job to help provide for his family. I still text with him and he is incredibly thankful for the expert care he received at Kijabe Hospital. I cannot say enough great things about the nurses, residents, and ECCCO's who provided such great care to him.
