GC3 returns to teach another ventilator course

The GC3 team recently hosted the second visit to Kijabe Hospital to conduct the Multi-institutional Fundamentals of Mechanical Ventilation course, developed by Dr. Burton Lee. Over the course of three days, participants received comprehensive instruction covering basic lung physiology, ventilator mechanics, and the equation of motion. The curriculum included practical exercises such as drawing normal ventilator waveforms to facilitate the recognition of abnormal patterns, and training on identifying and managing various ventilator dyssynchronies. Attendees comprised medical consultants, anesthesiologists, medical officers, ECCCOs, and students from Kijabe Hospital and partner institutions in Nairobi. Building on prior teachings, this course aims to enhance skills critical for the effective management of patients requiring invasive mechanical ventilation.
